Hotel Gladbeck Van Der Valk, Gladbeck

The hotel is undergoing renovations, so it can get a bit messy and noisy at times. The rooms had no heating, and there were wires dangling down where the smoke detector should have been. On the bright side, the food in the restaurant was quite good.

My stay at the hotel was overall pleasant, with clean and high-quality rooms. Unfortunately, the lack of air conditioning made it uncomfortably hot. The service was mostly friendly, although some staff seemed unenthusiastic. The location was lovely, surrounded by trees and close to attractions. The dining options were excellent, with a good choice of dishes.

Upon entering the room, the smell of stale smoke was noticeable, and there were no heating facilities available. However, there were multiple seating areas for relaxation. I requested a different room due to the smoke odor.

The hotel is nestled in a serene location with plenty of trees, offering a calm atmosphere for a good night's sleep. The rooms, while spacious and modern, lack air conditioning, which can make them feel a bit stale. The service, especially accommodating my request for a ground floor room for my dog, was the standout feature. The dining experience was satisfactory, but the option of self-service may not be ideal in these times. The facilities are decent, providing a comfortable stay at a reasonable price.

My stay at the hotel had its ups and downs. The location was great, near the A2 and close to beautiful attractions like Wittringen Schloss. The staff did their best to accommodate my request for a room on the ground floor with outside access for my dog, but communication was tricky due to language barriers. However, the room setup was not ideal, as I had to move due to the need for an additional bed, which turned out to be a less-than-comfortable couch-pull-out. The dining experience was excellent with a good selection and even the chance to press fresh orange juice, but the overall service was substandard for the rates charged.
